Stay spoiler-free with AI-driven recaps on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon Prime Video is rolling out a new AI-powered feature called X-Ray Recaps to provide viewers with spoiler-free recaps for shows they’re watching.

This enhancement, announced on Monday, extends Prime Video’s X-Ray feature, known for offering trivia, cast information, and soundtracks, by adding customized text summaries that allow users to pick up right where they left off- without the risk of spoilers.

Meeting Viewer Demand for Quick, Spoiler-Free Summaries

X-Ray Recaps addresses a common issue: finding accurate, spoiler-free recaps for shows that users may not have watched recently.

Often, viewers want a brief recap to recall key moments or plot points, particularly when returning to a show after a new season’s release or after a long gap.

With X-Ray Recaps, users no longer have to search third-party sites that might reveal unwanted spoilers.

Instead, Amazon’s generative AI technology produces succinct summaries that focus on character development and pivotal scenes—down to the exact minute where the viewer left off.

AI-Driven Summaries Tailored to Viewing Preferences

This innovative feature leverages Amazon’s AI technology, using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker to analyze video segments alongside subtitle data, generating concise recaps tailored to each viewer’s progress.

These AI models ensure that recaps remain spoiler-free and pertinent to the viewer’s position in the show.

The feature effectively highlights major plot points, character-driven moments, and cliffhangers, enhancing the overall streaming experience.

Currently, X-Ray Recaps is in beta for Fire TV devices in the U.S. It’s exclusively available for select Amazon MGM Studios originals, such as Daisy Jones & the Six, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys.

Amazon plans to extend the feature to other devices by year’s end, making it accessible to a broader audience for a more streamlined and enjoyable viewing experience.
