Has India failed to protect the voting rights of citizens? It seems political parties have deliberately botched up to protect secret ballot voting system due to which the lawmakers have now openly started threatening the citizens with dire consequences if they do not vote for them. Can any political system in a democracy leave its citizens to become a cannon fodder for political parties?
Is it not the responsibility of the present government to conduct free and fair elections so that incredible democratic credentials of the country remain intact and all citizens feel safe and secure? The lawmakers are vitiating the atmosphere by acidic speeches, challenging the authority of the election commission, showing bravado by not following moral code of conduct and threatening the citizens to vote for them.
