Former Pakistani minister urges US President-elect Trump to probe PTI leader’s ouster
Fawad Chaudhry, a former Pakistani federal minister, has publicly urged US President-elect Donald Trump to personally investigate the circumstances surrounding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s removal from office.
He hinted at alleged involvement from the Biden administration, suggesting Trump’s unique position to review the matter.
Allegations of US Involvement in Khan’s Ouster
Chaudhry claimed that the Biden administration may have played a role in Khan’s ouster, drawing attention to what he described as “similarities” in the challenges faced by Trump and Khan. Both leaders, he argued, were victims of “fake cases.”
This, he believes, raises questions about external influence on Pakistan’s political landscape. According to Chaudhry, Trump’s advisors also suspect a connection between Biden’s administration and Khan’s downfall, adding weight to his appeal for an investigation.
Electoral Integrity Compared: US vs. Pakistan
Addressing the recent US election results, Chaudhry contrasted the accepted outcome in the United States with the contested political landscape in Pakistan.
He remarked, “The people’s decision has been accepted in the US election 2024, but the nation’s mandate was disregarded in Pakistan’s general elections.” His comments underline concerns about the integrity of Pakistan’s electoral process, alleging interference and manipulation.
Imran Khan’s Optimism for Improved US-Pakistan Relations
In a recent ARY News interview, PTI MNA Ali Muhammad Khan expressed Imran Khan’s optimism for US-Pakistan relations under Trump’s incoming administration.
Despite being imprisoned, Imran Khan reportedly holds hope that Trump’s return could counter the “negativity” fostered under Biden’s tenure.
Reflecting on his time as Prime Minister, Khan recalled his “good and friendly relations with Trump,” highlighting discussions on business and bilateral ties during calls with the former US president.
